“People, who feel better, make better choices for themselves, their community and our world.”

A 2014-2015 Poetry Posse member, Kimberly and Creating Calm Network’s Ann White,  assist small enterprises in crafting business booming words and robust social media platforms.  Kimberly won SageUSA’s 2013 story contest with a poem from The Journey Home, chronicling her 3,000 mile Hazon Cross-USA bicycle trip.   Her poetry books include, Live Like Someone Left The Gate Open and the upcoming Healing Words—Poetry for Thriving Brains.   With Elizabeth Goldstein she edited the anthology, Music—Carrier of Intention in 49 Jewish Prayers.

Because They Are Ours

Because they are mine
I value these feelings
these needs

Because they are yours
I love the way your hair smells
and the flow of your clothes

Because they are ours
I adore these children
and the people they are becoming

Because they are mine
these words will fall
and soar in a particular way

Because they are yours
I give importance
to these words over those

Because they are ours
I look out at these tree
and they are loved by me

Because they are theirs
what will become of them
how precious are they
in this world of mine,
ours and theirs

Three Reasons Why

Surprise and dismay on her face
a five year old interrupted
a school project
not yet complete

Why did you pick us up early?
not really a fair question
I am not early
and it is five pm

Your mother sent me
she puts on her outdoor shoes
for going home
to dinner

What does she need us for?
a question as we drive
cool fall blowing through a crack
at the top of the window

For company,
offers her twin brother
our mom needs us
for company
has become a cute story
now I am embedded
in their lives
