I was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba where I learned to walk on hard pack snow and deal with the inevitable fall through. \u00a0“Don\u2019t panic! \u00a0You aren\u2019t going to die. Take your foot out of the boot; then dig out the boot; and they won\u2019t find your melting corpse in the spring.” \u00a0I attended high school in Calgary, Alberta. \u00a0The Cow-garians didn\u2019t let me go until I could yee-haw like a pro. \u00a0While at UBC the yee-haw morphed into a tongue-curl call of a warrior princess. \u00a0(As you can tell I do like to joke.) \u00a0I obtained a B.A. in theatre and later a B.Ed. \u00a0I’ve taught both in Vancouver and Japan and traveled extensively. \u00a0Currently I am a stay-at-home, single mom and a frequent denizen of Vancouver Starbucks.\u00a0\u00a0Between cups of coffee and chocolate croissants \u2026 of which my son gets to 2\/3rd \u2026 \u00a0I also host a youtube channel. \u00a0There you can find voiced offerings of many of my poems, along with my Vlog, \u00a0Tales from the Tragic Sip. \u00a0I have four works available on amazon. \u00a0The links can be found below as well as the link to my youtube channel.<\/p>\n

The Black-Wit Reveller<\/p>\n

Nature, the black-wit reveller, to her requiem, Autumn
\nShe clads no dirgeful ebony but dons veils resplendent
\nShe performs a dance most seductive and vivacious
\nSummer retires in praise and awe \u2026
\nat the gyrations and twirls the wind performs upon her<\/p>\n

Carmine, amber, titian; vermillion, russet, citron\u2014flushed
\nFall to the ground, flagging, defeated, and wasted
\nThe carousing carries on until every last sheaf alights
\nLies forgotten, fading foliage, pitiful detritus
\nEvidence of a party long-since concluded<\/p>\n

Nature stands upon the wreckage, naked and unabashed
\nDemanding of death, her beloved, bearded Winter
\nWay past last call, ice and snow, snow and ice \u2026
\nto fill a forlorn and empty tumbler<\/p>\n

They await out the night, under a blanket of ivory
\nSilent, bereft, and wondering
\nWrapped in a crepuscular, cold embrace
\nSomehow still inviting<\/p>\n

With sunrise arrives the most gracious of invites
\nScrolled upon a crocus petal; Spring calls, come to high tea
\nDressed in daffodil and verdant green
\nBudding arbour blossoms flowing from your hair
\nThere\u2019ll be be-fuddled fledglings to sing an accompaniment
\nI\u2019ll expect you no later than April<\/p>\n

\nRiches flow when freed from the poverty of greed
\nGlory shines when not soiled in envy
\nChange flowers when apathy melts
\nAwake from the catatonia of fear
\nHunger evaporates when you realize you are full<\/p>\n
